Two Local Juniors Competing in AJGA Preseason Junior
March 31, 2011 by Mike Garth
Edric Wung (McLean, VA) and Luke Malanchuk (Arlington, VA) are scheduled to play in the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Preseason Junior At Ocala. The tournament will be played at Golden Hills Golf and Turf Club in Ocala, Florida.
Malanchuk recently placed third at the International Junior Golf Tour’s (IJGT) at Westfields Golf Club in Clifton, VA. He is in the Class of 2013 and a member of the golf team at Gonzaga High School. Wung is in the Class of 2014 at Langley High School and also competes on that school’s golf team. He recently finished first in the Doral/Publix Junior Classic (the consolation round) in a field of 64. He posted rounds of 75, 77, and 70. Last fall, Wung finished 14th at the Virginia AAA High School State Championship in a field of 61. There are many out there that think if Wung continues on his current trajectory, he could be one of the top players in the DC Metro area in short order.
