October 10 – Travel and Practice Round

Today started off pretty well, we were making good time on the road until we stopped for more directions and ended up going 100 miles out of our way and made a four hour trip into seven.  I arrived at the course at 2:00 p.m. just in enough time to get in my 18 holes before the Players Banquet at 7:00 p.m. I hit the ball pretty well for just getting out of the car and was able to put together a 74 with 3 bogeys and just one birdie. The course fits my game pretty well and if my gameplan goes as accordingly then I should be looking pretty solid after day 1. The course is different than I’m used to but I’m excited to see what I can make out of it for the first day of competition.

October 11 – Championship Round One

The start of my day was a little more stress-free than yesterday, getting up early and eating a nice breakfast before I headed to the course. I felt good on the range and hit a few putts before I teed off number one. I birdie three out of my first four holes and was rolling until I hit two OB on 5 and made a sweet 9. From there I was able to keep my composure and put up a decent 75 which puts me in a tie for I think 19th place.  Even only being 3 over, I’m 12 back from the leaders who shot incredible 63′s on their home course.  It may be their home course but 9 under is 9 under.  I’m looking for a low number tomorrow and hopefully a top ten or even top 5. We’ll see what happens.

October 12 – Final Round

My morning started off the same way as the previous morning, stress-free and no problems in my way. When I arrived to the course, I started to feel a little under the weather and caught a cold. I started off poorly going four-over through my first seven holes but birdied the par 5 fifth hole in which I made nine on the day before. From there I scrapped together 4 birdies and a 3-putt bogey for a decent 73. I holed a 15 foot putt on 18 for birdie to get me inside the top ten. Overall it was a solid tournament.

I grinded it out these past two days and I’m happy with what I came up with.  My next event is the Valentine Invitational at the end of the month.  I will continue to build on what I did this week.
