Westfield Takes The ServPro, Hyun Wins Individual Title in Playoff

The second round of the ServPro Invitational at Twin Lakes Golf Course moved to the Lakes Course and it didn’t disappoint.  For two years running, Westfield High School has won the tournament.  Their two-day score of 572 was 19 better than second place Centreville, a team that was only 7 strokes back from Westfield after round one. Fairfax County Junior Golf Program Still Has Tournaments To Play

There are still several tournaments remaining this season in the Fairfax County Tournament program that should be of interest to junior golfers of all levels. 

Burke Lake Golf Course is holding its Junior Club Championship on August 19th.  The tournament is open to juniors 7-17 years of age.  The format is 18-hole individual stroke play. Age divisions are 10 & under, 11 – 13, and 14 – 17.   First through third place finishers in each age division are awarded prizes.  An additional prize will be awarded to the overall low gross champion.  There is also Read more

Balance and Consistency Go A Long Way at the Dewey Ricketts

The third and final round of the Dewey Ricketts Memorial golf tournament found a balancing act in one group and consistent play in the other the keys to victory in this year’s tournament.  Robert Zehnder of McLean, VA balanced two triples with four birdies to wrangle a 75 (76, 72, 75 – 223) which proved to be enough to one better Matt Brown (74, 75, 75 – 224) of Brookeville, MD.  Casey Taylor of Fallston, MD found life in the final round making the loop in 70 strokes (overall low third round score) to tie him for third place with Bart George of Arnold, MD.  Both finished at 225.  Read more

First Round of the ServPro Invitational Is In the Books

081209_0007081209_0037The Northern Virginia High School Golf Program was well represented today with 140 players comprising 28 teams from across the area competing in the ServPro Invitational tournament held at Twin Lakes Golf Course in Clifton, VA.  Karl Kerns, coach of the Lake Braddock team, is the lead organizer of this event year to year.  It is a well-run tournament that is greatly received by all.   The first round was played on the Oaks Course, par 71.  The final round is scheduled to be played on the par 72 Lakes Course.  Tee times begin at 11:30AM on numbers 1 and 10.
